WHAT WENT WILD?

ppp-38

In another new and pretty much action packed topic that we’re staring on this blog we’ll be attempting to sift through our hazy memories of the last rave, looking at the back of record bags, checking out playlists and basically asking people that were less drunk than us to round up the tunes that went off and made the night.

so without further a do… here’s (from what we can remember) went wild:

Jamie Jones – Ruckus
Skream- I Love The Way
Mr. Oizo – Flatbeat
Shit Robot – I Got A Feeling
Kelis – Millionaire
Debruit – Nigeria What
Beastie Boys – Sabotage (Alex Metric Remix)
Jackpot – Brief Encounter
Diplo – Percao ft. Pantera Os Danadinhos
Joris Voorn – Sweep The Floor
Tony Lionni – Found A Place

PARTY KILLER

The original Hugh Grant of the dancefloor is back… David E Sugar played for us over 2 years ago and pretty much crushed it. He had some banging singles at the time and Kitsune were all over him like a rash. But since then everything in the E Sugar camp has been distinctly quiet, which is why we’re happy to catch this ace new single and word of a full album in due in October. Having previously had release on the aforementioned “Fox” and CoYo Fave’s Greco Roman, its safe to say he’s lining this one up for the poppier end of the dancefloor. Party Killer drips with lazy jangly guitars reminiscent of Talking Heads, great vocal hooks, saddling up against the likes of Hot Chip and Friendly Fires, what’s more it comes with a killer video.

As much as we’re into kicking back to the original the dance floor wants more, so this is where previous CoYo guests Renaissance Man step in treating us to a full on blissed out tech house monster, with all the trademarks and trimmings that has come to make this pair one of the most in demand remixers on the block!

MEGAMIX RETURNS

Click For Facebook Event Page

THE MEGAMIX IS BACK!!! I’m sure you all know the drill by now, but for those of you new to the concept here’s how it goes:

Each Night/DJ gets a 30 min slot to burn out the purest heat, all killer no filler, sweep the floor and get the party juiced in good style. The final hour results in an every man for themselves, Back 2 Back, No Holes Barred, All Holes Plugged…Megamix!!!

We’ve lined up another cracking night filled with Manchester’s premier disc jockeying power:

NAÏVE MELODY: This year has been epic for NM, with some bookings that can only be described as that of “legendary” status…. Smagghe, Weatherall, Twitch & Wilkes, Baldelli, ooooft! Anyone putting together parties like this knows what’s up so we don’t need to tell you that they’ll crush it proper!

EAT MY BEAT: Batty Bass, Wonky House, Tropical Techno, whatever you want, these boys can bring it… if there’s a party that needs starting they’ll be sure to do the job reeeeeeaaaaaaaaal nice!

TRAMP!: Tramp was one of our favourite Manchester Nights ever, but since its death William has gone on to make a name for himself in his own right as one of the best djs in Manchester, and deservedly so. Regular bookings alongside the biggest boys in the business has seen him tearing into the biggest clubs and even taking over the reigns of the world famous OPTIMO for the night and also warming up for some guys called 2ManyDjs!?

NOWWAVE: These boys know their stuff… they’ve put on pretty much every band that is cool and even those that didn’t even know they were cool yet. They’re so far ahead of the curve one of them once managed to high five an apparition of himself from 2 weeks in the future? Needless to say they can handle themselves behind the wheels of steel, (Especially when asked to stand in for Scratch Perverts on the main stage of Parklife?!?) so get set for some serious party throbbers.

STOP MAKING SENSE: Every time I see these lads play they smack it… Tropical Dubs to Spaced out Techno to Pumping Disco, these boys’ will be heating it from the depths of their collection for you dancing pleasure.

CONTORT YOURSELF: Yeah that’s us… we’ll be going in strong and fast jackin’ out the house party rhythms and durty disco thumpers.

SOLO JACKMODE MIX

I hate the term “Midget House” that everyone seems to band around when talking about SOLO… It seems that every other day someone’s invented a new genre that last until 4pm that afternoon. What ever you want to call is SOLO is making some killer tunes and has been for the last few years, getting releases out on Sound Pellegrino, Exploited, Southern Fried, Ninja Tune and Deadfish to name a few, but this mix really nails home the direction he taking his music right now. With a frustratingly vague tracklist SOLO blends together jacking house, tropical thumpers and a few of those “oh so cool” retro vocal samples that sound like their out of 1950’s downtown speakeasies.

We’ve wanted to get him up to the cave for ages, but never been able to make the dates work so its good to see the lads over at Prostitutes & Policemen have bagged him up for their freshers special when the new terms starts alongside Glimpse, Julian Jeweil and a Manchester debut for COYO Fave Harvard Bass!

Until then get stuck into this mix recorded exclusively for JACKMODE.
