All round smasher and NUMBERS boss Jackmaster just dropped this slice of dirty euro disco pop decadence the other day on the Numbers Podcast. TRAMP!: Tramp was one of our favourite Manchester Nights ever, but since its death William has gone on to make a name for himself in his own right as one of the best djs in Manchester, and deservedly so. Regular bookings alongside the biggest boys in the business has seen him tearing into the biggest clubs and even taking over the reigns of the world famous OPTIMO for the night and also warming up for some guys called 2ManyDjs!?

NOWWAVE: These boys know their stuff… they’ve put on pretty much every band that is cool and even those that didn’t even know they were cool yet. They’re so far ahead of the curve one of them once managed to high five an apparition of himself from 2 weeks in the future? Needless to say they can handle themselves behind the wheels of steel, (Especially when asked to stand in for Scratch Perverts on the main stage of Parklife?!?) so get set for some serious party throbbers.

SBTRKT + Sampha

SBTRKT and Sampha blew me away last night… i mean im fully into Holy Ghost (who they supported) and it was amazing to see them play as their full 4 piece live band but what preceded them was something altogether more futuristic, just made what they were doing seem a little old hat.

Thier new EP on RAMP is killer! Lead track “Break Out” is a blippy little number with 8-bit grooves and deep housey moments all stitched together with a soulful vocal courtesy of Sampha himself. The B side is all together more mellow and laid back dishing out perfect for summer vibes. you can pick the EP up from Phonica on vinyl or Beatport for all the digital geeks, and its highly recommended.

TIGERSUSHI: X YEAR ANNIVERSARY MIX

After JOAKIM smashed the cave last time round we’ve had a bit of a renaissance with Tigersushi digging out out some of those old foot wide plastic things and listening back to some of their tunes we used to rinse. So its great to see they’ve put together a pseudo retrospective mixtape featuring only Tigersushi releases mixed by the 14 hands that make up their stable: Principles of Geometry, Nakion, DyE, Krikor, Joakim, Tigersushi Bass System (Alexis Le Tan) and Discipline.

If you’re looking for bangers you’re not gonna find it here but its a great little mix that really gives you a taste of what their all about.

Tramp! Back In The Gutter

Tramp! was my favourite nights in out in Manchester ever, and the day the Bier Kelier closed its doors was a sorry day for manchester raving. Im not saying that Tramp! at North was without its killer nights namely when each of; Bonde De Rol, Chromeo and Joakim all took to the stage, but nothing could and still can compare to that dirty dirty beer swilled tunnel, with its sweat stalactites dripping from the celling as people lost their shit dancing on tables and chewed their faces like 3 day old gum. Tramp! in its hay day was epic… they were the reason we start Contort Yourself, they constantly smashed it, brining the best Djs and bands to Manchester who played to a packed house week in week out. My 3 favourite nights have to be The Juan Maclean, Para One and Justice (just as the “we Are Your Friends” Remix dropped, before all the hype), oh and of course the infamous TRAMP! vs INVEST rave at the Mill… good times!

So it’s great to see them back in the saddle joining forces with Now Wave to bring us some epic raves that take us back to the Kelier era. To wet your whistle check out the OG Tramp! mix from 2007…. still sounds AMAZING today and has taken a serious beating on the CoYo sound system and is testament to the reason why Tramp! still grace the likes of Homo Electric and Bugged Out warming up for the biggest names in the game.
