JOHN TALABOT XX REMIX

Its seems The XX have fallen foul to the “Pon Di Floor” bedroom producer remix curse, with 1000’s of would-be producers trying their damnedest to break the industry with the next big track to hit the clubs through the medium of The XX. Sifting through the torrent of shit is hard work but we feel it necessary to bring this one to your attention. Barcalona based producer John Talbot has knocked together a rather lovely little number here, fusing together sweet tropical melodies and durty bass sounds alongside the XX fragile vocals. Its not gonna destroy the dance floor, but then the XX are not made for that, so the balance has to be just right and that’s what he’s done here.
A couple of other remixes that we’re feeling are: Sampha’ Remix of “Basic Space”, Matthew Dear’s Rework of VCR and Jamie Jones’ remix of Crystalised are all well worth checking out!

MEGAMIX RETURNS
THE MEGAMIX IS BACK!!! I’m sure you all know the drill by now, but for those of you new to the concept here’s how it goes:
Each Night/DJ gets a 30 min slot to burn out the purest heat, all killer no filler, sweep the floor and get the party juiced in good style. The final hour results in an every man for themselves, Back 2 Back, No Holes Barred, All Holes Plugged…Megamix!!!
We’ve lined up another cracking night filled with Manchester’s premier disc jockeying power:
NAÏVE MELODY: This year has been epic for NM, with some bookings that can only be described as that of “legendary” status…. Smagghe, Weatherall, Twitch & Wilkes, Baldelli, ooooft! Anyone putting together parties like this knows what’s up so we don’t need to tell you that they’ll crush it proper!
EAT MY BEAT: Batty Bass, Wonky House, Tropical Techno, whatever you want, these boys can bring it… if there’s a party that needs starting they’ll be sure to do the job reeeeeeaaaaaaaaal nice!
TRAMP!: Tramp was one of our favourite Manchester Nights ever, but since its death William has gone on to make a name for himself in his own right as one of the best djs in Manchester, and deservedly so. Regular bookings alongside the biggest boys in the business has seen him tearing into the biggest clubs and even taking over the reigns of the world famous OPTIMO for the night and also warming up for some guys called 2ManyDjs!?
NOWWAVE: These boys know their stuff… they’ve put on pretty much every band that is cool and even those that didn’t even know they were cool yet. They’re so far ahead of the curve one of them once managed to high five an apparition of himself from 2 weeks in the future? Needless to say they can handle themselves behind the wheels of steel, (Especially when asked to stand in for Scratch Perverts on the main stage of Parklife?!?) so get set for some serious party throbbers.
STOP MAKING SENSE: Every time I see these lads play they smack it… Tropical Dubs to Spaced out Techno to Pumping Disco, these boys’ will be heating it from the depths of their collection for you dancing pleasure.
CONTORT YOURSELF: Yeah that’s us… we’ll be going in strong and fast jackin’ out the house party rhythms and durty disco thumpers.

In the second of our summer Co-Pro’s we’re teaming up with another Manchester institution MICRON for a one off special back in the 3rd Saturday slot! Last year we clubbed together and brought NOOB down to the cave for what was one of THE PARTYS OF THE SUMMER and this one shapes up to eclipse that!

His talent as a live artist Has gained him headline bookings at Fabric, Sankeys, mUmU, The Zoo Project Ibiza, Cafe De Anvers Belgium, Patent Blua Berlin as well as countless clubs and festivals across the globe .Fresh from the release of his second accliamed & massively popular Zoo Project album Saytek is working with Partner Cubism records who are re-editing and sourcing top remixers for his live work to create monthly series “Saytek Live

Drive U Crazy
This is fast becoming one of my favourite tunes of 2010… Egyptrixx is gonna be HUGE this year. He smashed it back in February when he played for us and was a thoroughly nice chap to boot! think the reason why i love this tune so much is because it slays the club, but sounds so chilled at the same time? what ever he’s on its some next ting so watch out for more from this guy real soon.

THE SWISS

Although we’ve reduced the frequency of contort yourself proper to once a month, this doesn’t mean we’re letting up on the party action. Moving back to once a month allows us to free up some time and get stuck into some new little jaunts, presenting lives shows, throwing one off parties, secret raves and all manor of discoid nonsense.
Its no secret that we’re close “man friends” with the now wave troupe, so it comes as little surprise to see us teaming up with them once again to present a rather special little sunday night soiree! So without further ado we present to you austrailia’s hottest new boutique disco stars… the swiss
“in a time when everyone who isn’t crookers is claiming to be a “disco act”, there is an insurmountable wash of pretenders. Adelaide trio the swiss, however, are a legit live disco band who’s existence is based entirely on flavour and good times rather than the cobra snake and fitted caps. (nerdy bit: they are a band who are getting giancarlo meo tattoos rather than looking up giorgio moroder best-of tracklists)
The bubble bath ep on modular recordings (out february 2010) is testament to what lies at the core lifestyle of the swiss: crisp and snappy drums, quicksand laser-sludge bass, dizzy pops & flourishes, melody rays and synthesised strings that glide on the thermal currents of life. It’s as much a breathy telephone call as it is a mid-range bordeaux shared between ensconced lovers. Beyond the raw and sensual output of the band themselves, the ep also comes stacked with two floor-ready remixes from facecrushers knightlife and tensnake.
Beyond signing to modular, lighting up the festival circuit, getting “bubble bath” added to national rotation on triple j, supporting ladyhawke on her national tour and readying a national tour of their own, the swiss’ journey to the centre of 4/4 has so far not gone unnoticed. Erol alkan & sinden have uttered some kind words, aeroplane are opening many a set with a swiss jam and showing the three-piece glowing chart appreciation, but most of all the kids at the shows are going señor bananas. The stars are aligning and they play drums, bass and keys in the swiss.
Harvesting hits in the studio with australian mega-producer/songwriter donnie sloan (empire of the sun) the swiss have a lot to live up to when hitting the stage; they deliver every time with a searingly hot, intensely energetic live show.”
“bubble bath by the swiss. That is all…” – erol alkan
“i’m sat alone in my living room at 3am and i suddenly want to dance” – fake blood
“bubble bath is genius!” – sinden
“aeroplane hearts the swiss” – aeroplane
“can’t get enough of this tune” – annie mac
alongside these antipodean disco mavericks we have residents from both now wave and contort yourself jostling for supremacy over the dance floor in a battle royal, with weapons of choice being jackin’ house, cosmic disco, wonky techno, un classics and leftfield pop.

RENAISSANCE MAN COMES TO CO/YO!

RENAISSANCE MAN:
It is a strange land in the far north of Europe, usually renowned for its uncouth inhabitants’ penchant for daredevil sports, power tools and music that sounds like it has been made with the aforementioned. Yes, Renaissance Man may hail from Finland, but beyond an iron constitution that allows these artists to keep on playing and playing, the similarity ends there. The two halves of Renaissance Man met whilst working in an architecture office in Helsinki. They saw in each other prime examples of an end-of-naughties cultural multitasking airmile-guzzling kind of lifestyle that prompted them to join forces under one name and build the kind of house they really wanted.
From 2008 onwards, their monthly club night NOW! had already treated Helsinki to the sounds of their musical contemporaries. In late 2008, the pair decided to change the dynamic and unleash their own creations on an unsuspecting world, trawling the aural universe in search of sonic nuggets to pepper over their tracks. Debut Spraycan was released on Switch’s Dubsided in early 2009, followed by Rhythm on the Kitsuné Maison 7 compilation. A subsequent EP on Parisian label Sound Pellegrino launched title track What Is Guru as one of the year’s underground hits, making Renaissance Man highly sought-after remixers for the likes of Brodinski, Crystal Fighters, Health, Le Corps Mince de Françoise… Original tracks and remixes have seen support from fellow DJ’s including Diplo, Annie Mac, Claude Von Stroke, Tiga, Jesse Rose…
This rollercoaster success has led to some serious thumbing of Renaissance Man passports with gigs across four continents in major clubs (Social Club/Paris, Hive/Zurich, WMF/Berlin) and festivals (Stereosonic/Australia, Les Transardentes/Belgium, Igloofest/Montreal). The mayhem looks set to continue in 2010 with at least two new records, including an EP on the Made to Play Label, remixes for The Very Best, Solo and The Crookers, plus numerous international shows in prestigious venues including Fabric and Panorama Bar. Who knows, that elusive Renaissance Man album might even make its appearance…
Taking their inspiration from 3000 years of art and science, Renaissance Man prove that you can think out of the box, but that it’s even better to think outside the walls. Or make that borders.
DROP THE MUSTARD:
DTM is one of the sickest nights in Manchester regularly snaffling bookings from some of the best Djs in the world. What’s more their residents squad truly know how to crush a party… it was only a matter of time before they took up a shift in the cave and they’ll be the perfect accompaniment to our headline guests!
RESIDENTS:
Ya’ll know how we do…. the finest Jackin’ House, Cosmic Techno and Balearic Basslines.

Its funny and plays host to a whole load of amazing wacky ish – The Asshole Castle, a call for more ham, serious shape throwing, topless dancers, cat barrow races and strobes. Lots of strobes!

I’M THE SHIT IN EAST ATLANTA

Whoa whoa whoa. Gucci Mane was all I listened to in NY, and I brought the obsession back to the UK with me. You can’t ignore a rapper who wears Bart Simpson and Kelloggs Frosties ice around his neck. Sadly, Gucci is stuck behind bars at the moment due to ‘probation violation’. But not to worry, Mad Decent megastar Diplo has got together a bunch of hype producers to remix the best bits of Gucci’s Cold War Mixtapes. The results are off the hook, with tracks that even mash together Gucci’s grilled slur with ATB and Daniel Bedingfield samples. Yeah, I know…bizarre but when you listen it makes a whole lot of sense.
And what’s more, all these beauties are available to download on Mad Decent’s blog for FREE. With one tiny bit of small print…like the South Rakkas Stimulus Package, all you have to do is sign up for the Mailing List to activate the D/L link. Not asking much really, seeing as Flying Lotus, Douster, Mumdance, Eymnd and Diplo himself were some of the star remixers.
COP COP COP it here!!!
