MEGAMIX RETURNS
THE MEGAMIX IS BACK!!! I’m sure you all know the drill by now, but for those of you new to the concept here’s how it goes:
Each Night/DJ gets a 30 min slot to burn out the purest heat, all killer no filler, sweep the floor and get the party juiced in good style. The final hour results in an every man for themselves, Back 2 Back, No Holes Barred, All Holes Plugged…Megamix!!!
We’ve lined up another cracking night filled with Manchester’s premier disc jockeying power:
NAÏVE MELODY: This year has been epic for NM, with some bookings that can only be described as that of “legendary” status…. Smagghe, Weatherall, Twitch & Wilkes, Baldelli, ooooft! Anyone putting together parties like this knows what’s up so we don’t need to tell you that they’ll crush it proper!
EAT MY BEAT: Batty Bass, Wonky House, Tropical Techno, whatever you want, these boys can bring it… if there’s a party that needs starting they’ll be sure to do the job reeeeeeaaaaaaaaal nice!
TRAMP!: Tramp was one of our favourite Manchester Nights ever, but since its death William has gone on to make a name for himself in his own right as one of the best djs in Manchester, and deservedly so. Regular bookings alongside the biggest boys in the business has seen him tearing into the biggest clubs and even taking over the reigns of the world famous OPTIMO for the night and also warming up for some guys called 2ManyDjs!?
NOWWAVE: These boys know their stuff… they’ve put on pretty much every band that is cool and even those that didn’t even know they were cool yet. They’re so far ahead of the curve one of them once managed to high five an apparition of himself from 2 weeks in the future? Needless to say they can handle themselves behind the wheels of steel, (Especially when asked to stand in for Scratch Perverts on the main stage of Parklife?!?) so get set for some serious party throbbers.
STOP MAKING SENSE: Every time I see these lads play they smack it… Tropical Dubs to Spaced out Techno to Pumping Disco, these boys’ will be heating it from the depths of their collection for you dancing pleasure.
CONTORT YOURSELF: Yeah that’s us… we’ll be going in strong and fast jackin’ out the house party rhythms and durty disco thumpers.

SAYTEK LIVE – THIS SATURDAY!!!

In the second of our summer Co-Pro’s we’re teaming up with another Manchester institution MICRON for a one off special back in the 3rd Saturday slot! Last year we clubbed together and brought NOOB down to the cave for what was one of THE PARTYS OF THE SUMMER and this one shapes up to eclipse that!
Saytek has gained a reputation for many as the most exciting and innovative live act to emerge from the UK house and techno scene in recent times. setting himself aside from the click ‘n’ play masses, Saytek’s fully improvised live shows see him get hands on with a Roland MC909 , a Kaoss Pad , synths, a sampler, Ableton and FX to create a unique deep intelligent dance floor orientated journey that combines cutting edge grooves with Detroit soul, jackin acid and tribal percussion garnished with intricate melodies, left field jazz and Latin flavours.
His talent as a live artist Has gained him headline bookings at Fabric, Sankeys, mUmU, The Zoo Project Ibiza, Cafe De Anvers Belgium, Patent Blua Berlin as well as countless clubs and festivals across the globe .Fresh from the release of his second accliamed & massively popular Zoo Project album Saytek is working with Partner Cubism records who are re-editing and sourcing top remixers for his live work to create monthly series “Saytek Live

Girls, girls, girls, girls… Then some more girls.

Gaggle are an occasionally 22-strong, all girl “alt.chior” and described by themselves as “AN ALTERNATIVE TO BURLESQUE, SHIT TV AND BAD BOY BAND WATCHING“. As alternatives go, that’s certainly one we’ve all been waiting for.
As far as the music goes expect mind-bending, feet-moving songs about Crows (Crows), Liars (Liar) and the excesses of society with the utterly spectacular I Hear Flies). The video for which you can find below.
You can get the extremely limited 7″ of I Hear Flies/I Like Cigarettes on the quietly mighty Transgressive records HERE

Manicured Noise – Metronome (Cousin Cole Remix)

We’ve every excited to bring you this classic slice of Mancunian Punk-Funk reworked by Brooklyn’s very own party start extraordinaire Cousin Cole… sent from the lovely people at Caroline True Records. Nameing the clubnight after the seminal James Chance hit Contort Yourself its not hard to work out that I’m pretty obsessed with the whole Punk-Funk / Mutant Disco / No Wave sound outside of what i play in the clubs, so this is why i love this track. Cousin Cole takes the original blueprint for Punk-Funk on a magic carpet ride through Manchester’s infamous club the Hacienda, to the 21st Century dancefloor of New York City where Cole and crew man Pocketknife regularly rock the lofts of Brooklyn and beyond.
Staying true to the original sound Cole takes the sturdy bassline for a workout, thumping out the groove against a hypnotic sax line and chopped up vocal that punctuates the track later on. Somehow he gives this number that oh-so-cool tropical / tech house sound thats all over the show at the moment while making it sound equally relevant against the output of modern day dance funk outfits ala Friendly Fires… superb!
