IF YOU KEN WHIT AH MEAN?
Numbers on Friday with James Blake, Girl Unit and Joker was just as I thought it would be….MENTAL. Some bright spark (or some bright sparks cigarette) set the fire alarm off during in Joker’s set and we saw someone get whacked around the chops with a belt buckle. Then we got complimentary chicken nuggets in McDonald to soak up all the Bucky. Glasgow, you dreamboat.
Anyways, here’s a nice new mix from the one they call Jackmaster straight outta the Numbers camp with a tracklist to boot. Ranging from Ludacris to T. Williams and Untold, this one is sure to get all those eclectic tastebuds a ring-a-dinging.

THE RETURN OF BASSLINE?
Just found this bad boy on the Mixpak Records Blog. DJ Pantha with some stealth new bassline track called ‘Candy Shop’.
‘WHEN YOU WAS SLEEPING…I SAID I WAS CREEPING’
I think the majority of people hated bassline, but I enjoyed the MC’s with Huddersfield accents and dancing like this…

TILT SHIFT
We posted the new Mosca track, ‘Tilt Shift’ on the blog a few weeks back…and now Manchester’s own from Swing Ting boys Samrai & Platt have gone done a killer remix of it for your aural pleasure.
Mosca – Tilt Shift [swing ting remix] by Samrai
The Tilt Shift EP is forthcoming on Fat City this autum/winter.
If you like what you hear then Mosca plays at The Oldboy’s night, EAT MY BEAT, on 20th November. It’ll be way into Movember so I expect to see the porn taches in full effect by then.

PUNKS JUMP UP TO GET BEAT DOWN

Punks Jump Up were the very first guest djs we ever booked at our night… to be honest we didn’t have a clue what we were doing back then but one thing was certain, these guys KILLED it. We’ve brought them back to manchester a couple times since, once to Sankeys and another time in Common which was a total blast! But the return leg to the rave cave is well over due.
Since those times 4 years ago they’ve not let up, they’ve been a constant barometer for hyped up electro party bangers and always on point with remixes for the likes of Tiga, Gossip, Crystal Castles, Zongamin, Kele, Miike Snow, to name a few. So its good to see them back in the saddle with a new Single “Blockhead” dropping on Kitsuné’s Anniversary Masion No.10 comp next month. It will also be getting a full release backed with some badman remixes no doubt before the end of the year, and rumours are their debut LP will be dusted by the end of the year scheduled for release summer 2011. Filled with Cameos from Peter Bjorn & John, Chromeo, Black Kids, DVNO, Saintsaviour (Groove Armada), We Have Band and more things look to be hotting up for these guys in 2011 so keep an eye on their prize.
For the mean time cop this mix which features the aforementioned single…
love.

EMMA
Watch out boys, the underground music scene is slowly but surely becoming an even playing field. FORGET about brostep sausagefests and testosterone raging DJs flicking the crossfader with their tallywackers…The grrrrrls are going crazy out here and EMMA is no exception.
I could get poetic and be like ‘oh yeah the casually ommiting bleeps swathed in ethereal female warbles’ and continue in all the rest of that pompous music reviewers shite talk but no, Midnight Highway is just HEAVY. And the video oozes some straight up 80s supafly/ sexy murder mystery/50’s sci-fi space rocket vibes which are just doing it good and proper for me right now.
ENCARTA 96! If you don’t know then…you probably just didn’t have a computer back then.

We’ve just peeped this nice mix online that
Andrew Hung of Fuck Buttons put out a few weeks back and its got a lot of stuff that im really into at the moment. Some great future house vibes, spazzy pop and acidic electronica… just what the doctor ordered for a bit of mid day listening.

YOU GONNA WANT ME

We’ve been following HEY TODAY! for some a while now, since the early days of COYO/ But its more recently that they’ve made an impact globally when they released one of the most anticipated single of this year “Talk To Me” on Turbo. After Tiga had been playing it in his sets for nearly a year, it finally dropped and everyone went nuts for it! Off the back of that they’ve rehashed Tigas anthemic hit “You Gonna Want Me” which is disgustingly good, had a hand in Boris Dlugosh’s massive track “Bangkok” and released their latest EP on Polymorphic Records, headed up by this single “Strange” which is a brutal argument of Techno and Dubstep which pretty much will tear your face off.
Keep an eye on these guys cos we think they’re gonna blow up real soon… and who knows you might catch them at a rave near you soon? until then enjoy these treats

UNBELIEVABLE TEKKERS

Teki Latex may not have come directly to your attention before but he’s been a MASSIVE influence on the sound of our night for the past 2 years. Yeah, i know he’s the guy from TTC but more importantly he’s the mand behind both INSTITUBES and SOUND PELLIGRINO. In our books that deserves an massive round of applause… two of the most forward thinking, influential and consistently on point labels there is.
Anyway enough of us sucking him off… Check out his latest single below which dropped a few months back on SP and has killed it in our sets ever since, and if that’s not enough check his new promo mix. This dude know’s what’s up and’s got the skills to pay the bills… keep em peeled as he might be dropping into a cave near you soon! Until that day enjoy these.

LUNICE

To put it bluntly, Lunice is a mad bastard. A wild-man on stage, his sets encompass DJing, MCing and even a spot of breakdancing. He’s certainly someone I’d like to see bouncing around the cave at some point.
FACT have had the man himself put a mix together and it’s amazing, cop it sharpish like, as it’s only available for three weeks.

LICK IT GOOD

Im sure you know that we’re into The Martin Brothers in a big way… their latest single Steal Drums has destroyed the cave on many an occasion and “Dum” is one of our favourite tracks of all time! But branching out on their own these two are just as devestating. If you’ve copped the October Top 10 Mix then you’ll recognise this track from it, an awesome mash of Alter Ego, Claude Vonstroke, Khia and of course Christian Martin. We love the drawn out vocal loop over building over the rough synths, keeping you waiting for a whole 5 minutes before we get stuck into some real business. A sturdy bassline, strange futuristic vocal echoes, plinky plonky techno melody and a good old fashion dollop of JACK make this one bump along with a presence. Thanks to JACKMODE you can download this one for freemans… click the arrow at the side of the player below douchebag.

HOUSEHOLD GOODS

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs latest single “Household Goods” premiered last weekend on the Annie Mac show. After the success of the last EP, this next single had its work cut out and this doesn’t disappoint! As ever 8-Bit pop is crushed into submission by rolling bass and synths, while the ever catchy melody and flowing vocals juxtapose the aforementioned… or something like that?
